Kate McKinnon is an American actress and comedian best known for her decade-long tenure on Saturday Night Live, where she was a cast member from 2012 to 2022 and earned two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Prior to SNL, McKinnon built her craft in New York’s comedy scene, including on The Big Gay Sketch Show and at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Her film work includes Ghostbusters, Barbie, Sisters, Rough Night, The Spy Who Dumped Me, Bombshell, and The Bubble, alongside voice roles in Nature Cat and The Magic School Bus Rides Again. Recent work includes starring as Carole Baskin in Joe vs. Carole, hosting the 2024 National Book Awards, publishing young-adult novels, and upcoming roles in The Roses and The Minecraft Movie.
