His mother, Sharon Eileen DePalmo, worked as a real estate agent and stockbroker and was once ranked among the top U.S. money managers by Bloomberg Wealth Manager magazine. His father, Vernon Lindsay Vaughn, worked as a salesman for a toy company. Vaughn lived in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, until the age of eight, after which his family moved to Lake Forest.
